Hey - It’s My First Time

Hi there - This is Jonathan. Out of all the years that we have been doing this content creator stuff, this is the first content that I (Jonathan) am actually typing up, posting, putting on the Internet, etc. So obviously it’s only fitting that I type out the first blog post.

You may be wondering why a picture of me holding a lightsaber? Answer is, idk, but why not.

We’ve talked about making a website for a while now but just never did. Main reason is the naming of the site.

Ideally, we were wanting to have it just be JonathanandJenna.com to keep our handle, but that website is already taken.

Looks like there’s another couple in the world named Jonathan and Jenna that used it for their wedding website - guess that’s a thing.

So after years of waiting to see if it would expire, I figured I would surprise Jenna with a website anyways.

As you can tell, our website is JonathanandJennahome.com - cause the other name is still taken. So I guess the lesson here is if you think you’ll ever want a website, secure your name ASAP before some other happy couple grabs it.

In all seriousness though, wish them the best and hope they are living their best life.

Jenna usually creates all the content to post because of her background in Communications. She has her Bachelors degree in Communications and her favorite part is doing the editing—getting in and just ripping whatever she’s editing all apart. By the time you’re reading this blog, for example, she has most likely come through and edited half of what I wrote and has made it 50x better that what I attempted to do. But it’s the effort that counts - can’t say I didn’t try!

Tomorrow is 5/12/2024. It is also Mother’s Day and this website is meant to be a Mother’s Day gift for Jenna.

Being a mom is hard - and all I know is what I’ve been told, but from what I’ve heard it is a pretty tough gig. But we all owe a lot to the moms in our lives, even this website. I told you how much Jenna loves to edit, which is actually how we started an Instagram in the first place.

Jenna’s mom, Sue, started a home decor Instagram page way back in the day with her sister. It was called Wool and Vine Design, but after a few years, her sister stepped away from the game and Sue took over. So the page is now Sue and Her Home.

Sue would sometimes have Jenna edit the posts before they got published, which eventually led to Jenna seeing all the cool opportunities that were available with the Instagram world.

So Jenna decided to start our own page. Initially, she just wanted to get a free rug (and boy did we get a free rug, or two, or three hundred).

We have expanded our horizons though to more than just rugs, but we do still love a good rug.

My mom taught me some cool stuff too. She was always my biggest supporter and gave me the confidence to do hard things. She actually wanted me to marry Jenna before Jenna even wanted to date me, so guess you could say she was an influencer too.

She passed away a little over a year ago, but I can still wish her a Happy Mother’s day too along with a special Happy Mother’s Day to Jenna and Sue.

So thank you for making it this far, you brave soul. You have just witnessed the first and likely last blog post I will ever write. A very Happy Mother’s Day to Jenna, Sue, and Brenda - Thank you for being the most influential people in my life, and here’s to continuing that influence to whoever else wants to learn how to make DIY garage storage or cement pumpkin decor or whatever other widget we might be working on.
