It's Week 4, Can We Skip to the Good Part?

We are so close to the fun part of this renovation, and I know it'll fly by once we start flooring and tiling, but this week was another "patch" week.

Jonathan spent an ENTIRE day fighting with the bathtub, trying to connect it to our old drain system. Three trips to Home Depot later and he finally got it to work. Our new bathtub isn't as big as the previous one, so we had to put in some 2x4s to bump it out a little and line it up with the drain and spout.

The tub is also sitting on some foam base (the tub legs poke through and the foam supports the base) for insulation to help keep the water warm.

Jonathan also built the shower pony wall with our future niche area as well! We are also in the process of getting glass doors (since it takes a few weeks to order), waiting on faucets and accessories to arrive, and juggling all of life in between! I really don't know if we'll make it by week 8, but Jonathan said it'll be all done by then, and I trust him (he would say I don't trust him, but I'm going to trust him on this one).

What We Got Done

  • Connected and secured the bathtub

  • Built shower pony wall

  • Patched up walls and closed up medicine cabinet hole

  • Installed a new outlet on the back wall for the vanity (it has outlets in the vanity for hair dryers and curlers!)

What We Hope to Do This Next Week

  • Install vanity

  • Build shower curb and base

  • Put up backer board
