San Francisco
We had SO MUCH FUN a week ago in SF. I had been talking about going for a while, and one day my husband told me he had bought tickets, since he found them pretty cheap. I went straight into planning mode for the next month, figuring out walking, Uber, Lyft, tours, what was going on that weekend, etc.
And we did walk a lot; 24,000 steps Saturday and 15,000 steps Sunday. Our feet really felt it, especially when we decided to walk the hills at night to get back to the hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Majestic, and it was the perfect mix of vintage and unique if you're looking for a different experience. We didn't want the standard motel/hotel, but we did want the standard sightseeing trip, and we saw it all.
Muir Woods, Fort Point, the bridge, Sausalito, Alcatraz, Pier 39, Painted Ladies, Lombard Street, Ghirardelli, musicians on the street, a gold-painted man, and lots and lots of PUPPIES. Seriously, San Francisco has more dogs than children.
We went on an all-day tour with Dylan's Tours, and it has 5-star ratings for a reason. Sunday we were on our own and walked on the bridge, visited the Oakland temple, and shared the airport with a ton of Raiders fans leaving the game.
I love the quick vacations where we can pack a lot into a few days, because J and I are great at speed walking and photo taking and exploring. I will always love these photos and memories and the time we got to see the bay.
We shared the sea salt caramel sundae, with chocolate scoops instead of vanilla. It was so good and gone in 10 minutes or less.
So glad we got to Pier 39 before it even opened, because we hit all the best spots before it became packed later on in the day. I remember coming here as a kid and watching all the sea lions in the sun, and they were pretty active when we came this time too.
We rode a trolley on Sunday, and it was a mix of scary and fast and beautiful. There's a literal cable pulling a car up these hills, and the people working on the cars mean business.
